Donald "Ray" Carruthers, 66, of Birmingham, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021.

Ray was born Sept. 3, 1954, in Keosauqua, Iowa, to Donald Earl and Patricia Ann (Reece) Carruthers. He married Deborah Marie Muhs on Dec. 23, 1973.

Ray worked at Agra Plastics as a fork truck driver until he retired in 2017. He enjoyed being outside hunting deer, turkeys or bears in Alaska, fishing and trapping beavers. Ray collected and refurbished guns. He always had a story or a joke to tell. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Ray is survived by his wife, Deborah of Birmingham; two children, Michael (Ann) Carruthers and Anita (Jeremy) Hauser; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Bud, Sam, Paul and Jack Carruthers; and many nieces and nephews.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Carruthers and Patricia Roland.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
