Donald W. Lukavsky

Donald W. Lukavsky, 70, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, at Halcyon House in Washington, following a long battle with cancer.

      Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at St. James Catholic Church in Washington with the Rev. Paul Appel officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will begin at noon Friday at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will also receive friends from noon until 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the church. Memorials have been established for the St. James Church Capital Campaign Fund, the University of Iowa Comprehensive Cancer Center or the Halcyon House Health Center.

      Mr. Lukavsky was born April 30, 1938, in Iowa City, the son of Edwin and Anna (Harbit) Lukavsky. He married Barbara A. Besser on Nov. 30, 1963, in Harper.
