Donald Waldschmidt December 14, 1922 - September 28, 2003

      Rev. Donald Waldschmidt, 80 of Riverside died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona following a battle with cancer.

      Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside. Rev. William Franklin will officiate.                   Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Following services at the cemetery a luncheon will be held at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside. Visitation will be held today from 3 to 8 p.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside with a 4 p.m. Rosary and a 7:30 p.m. Prayer Service. Memorials may be directed to the Priest Aide Society of Davenport Dioceses, St. Mary's Catholic Church of Riverside or the Iowa City Hospice. The Sorden-Lewis Funeral Home of Riverside is in charge of arrangements.

      Survivors include one brother, Francis J. Waldschmidt and his wife, Lucile of Riverside and one sister, Dorothy M. Gilroy of Iowa City.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Alice Waldschmidt, one brother Harold Waldschmidt and one sister, Geraldine Chamberlain.
