Donald William Swailes

      RIVERSIDE - Donald William Swailes, 82, of Riverside, died Monday, May 30, 2005, at his home, following a lengthy illness.

      Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 2, 2005, at the Sorden-Lewis funeral home in Riverside, with the Rev. Carol Kaalberg officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Public Cemetery in Riverside with full military rites accorded by Riverside VFW Post No. 6414. After the committal service, there will be a time of food and fellowship at the Riverside VFW. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Washington County or the American Cancer Society.

      Mr. Swailes was born on Jan. 25, 1923, to James and Helen (Dvorak) Swailes, on the family farm in Highland Township. He married Theresa Cooney. They were later divorced. On May 12, 1973, he married Margaret Arndt.
