Donna Jean (Taylor) Peterson, 76, of Urbandale, formerly of Williamsburg, IA died April 1, 2024, from a short fight with pancreatic cancer. She was born on April 4, 1947 to Don and Nancy (Burton) Taylor in Kansas City, MO. Donna attended Liberty High school in Liberty, MO and Northwest Missouri State University for 1 year, where she met her husband, Keith Peterson. She later went back to college and got degrees in computer programming and an associate of accounting from Maple Woods Community College. She married Keith Peterson on August 9, 1969 and they had 2 children, Cali and Brandon. She worked for 8 years in accounting at TWA in Kansas City before she and Keith moved to Williamsburg, IA. She worked as an accountant for 7-Villages Restaurant in the Amana Colonies for 30 years before retiring. Her kids and later her grandkids meant the world to her. She could always be counted on to volunteer for everything from menu planning and organizing the Williamsburg High School Show Choirs annual Dinner show to riding along on buses to Texas as a parent volunteer on Music trips. She never missed a sporting event or music concert for her kids or later her grandkids. While in Williamsburg, she was the President of the Music Association and a member of the Booster Club, as well as a member of First Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg. After she retired, she moved to Urbandale to be closer to her younger grandkids and sisters-in-law’s family. She loved having a shopping buddy close by and always jumped at the chance to spend time with her grandkids. She quickly made friends with the “Lake ladies” and loved their regular lunch outings and shopping adventures. She joined a Newcomers club and enjoyed meeting new people in her book club, golf club, lunch club, line dancing group and volunteer group.
Donna is survived by her daughter Cali Steckly (Mark), her son Dr. Brandon (Jill) Peterson, grandchildren Zach Steckly, Colton Steckly, Reagan Peterson and Brock Peterson. She was preceded in death by her husband Keith and her parents Don and Nancy Taylor.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service was 11:00 am Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg. Pastor Dan Jessop will be officiating. Visitation was held from 9:00 until service time. A memorial fund has been established for EveryStep Hospice's Kavanagh House. Messages may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
