COLUMBUS JUNCTION ? Donna Lee Smith, 85, of Columbus Junction, formerly of Des Moines, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, in Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 14, at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 16, in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 13, at the funeral home. A general memorial has been established at the funeral home.

Mrs. Smith was born Dec. 10, 1931, in Centerville, the daughter of Joseph Edward and Ila Pearl (McNeese) Miller. She married Albert L. Smith on July 22, 1951, in Kirksville, Missouri.

She was a 1949 graduate of Columbus Junction High School. She began her working career as a proofreader at Look Magazine and then became a file clerk for an insurance agency. She retired as an accounting supervisor from the United States Postal Service after more than 30 years. She was a member of the American Postal Workers Union and enjoyed gardening, camping, traveling, going to flea and antique markets, and researching family history.

Surviving are two sons, Tony Smith of Columbus Junction, and Terry Smith and wife Charyl of Council Bluffs; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Neva ?JoAnn? Nelson of Washington, Carol Thornton and husband Johnny of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Joyce Irving of Columbus Junction; one brother, James Arthur Miller and wife Elizabeth of Anamosa; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert, in 1985; and two brothers-in-law, Eddie, and Grant.
