Donna Rae Pile, 89, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Celebration of life services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Chaplain Andrew Zuehlke officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday. Interment will be held at Crawfordsville Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the United Presbyterian Home. Donna was born July 8, 1931, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Ellen (Hookum) Hannum. She graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1949. Donna was united in marriage to Eugene Lee Pile on Jan. 8, 1950, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
Donna owned a truck stop and restaurant with her husband in the Chicago area until returning to Mount Pleasant. She moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where she worked at Sargent Co. for 12 years. Donna later lived in Crawfordsville and Ainsworth before moving to the United Presbyterian Home in Washington. She enjoyed reading, gardening and working on crossword puzzles.
She is survived by three daughters, Cindy Simmering and husband Don of Ainsworth, Iowa, Deb Pumphrey of Ottumwa, Iowa, and Melissa Larson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Ellen Walgren of Wapello, Iowa, and Eloise Frost of Merlin, Ore.; and brother-in-law, Jerry Bonser of Agency, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1991; sister, Sharon Bonser; son-in-law, Bill Pumphrey; and son-in-law, Mike Larson.
