Dora Abrisz

Dora Abrisz, 96, of Winfield, died Thursday, June 29, 2000, at the Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield.

The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 3, at Winfield United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jo Hary officiating. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church prior to the service; there will be no visitation at the Honts Funeral Home. Memorials have been established for the Sunrise Terrace Care Center and the Winfield United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Abrisz was born January 1, 1904, at Gilby, N.D. She married J. Herb Abrisz on March 1, 1928 at Burlington. She was a graduate of Inkster High School in Inkster, N.D., obtained her teaching certificate at the University of North Dakota, and taught school for several years.

She was a member of the Philo Bee Club and the Winfield United Methodist Church; in earlier years, she worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell in Burlington.

Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Davis of Danville; a son, Carl Abrisz of Perris, Calif.; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son Paul, five sisters, and six brothers.
