Doris Boshart

Doris Boshart, 74, a Mt. Pleasant native, died Feb. 9, 2005 at her daughter's home in Minneapolis, Minn.

      The funeral service will be Saturday, Feb. 12 at the United Methodist Church in Willmar, Minn.

      Mrs. Boshart was among eight women who walked off their jobs at Citizens National Bank in Willmar for nearly two years in the late 1970s. She gained fame in a labor dispute as part of the so-called "Willmar Eight." The women contended they were paid less than men at the bank and that they were never told about job openings that went to men. The women's story was the subject of a documentary, a made-for-TV movie, and a guest spot on the Phil Donahue Show. Of the eight strikers, Boshart was the oldest. She was 47 when the strike began.
