DORIS HELENA (SWAILES) TAYLOR

Doris Helena (Swailes) Taylor, 91, rural Mount Pleasant, passed away at home Friday, Nov. 22, 2019,

at 10:30 p.m. with her daughter and great-granddaughter, Brittney, holding her hand.

She was born Feb. 17, 1928, in Mount Pleasant to Charles D. and Elsie A. (McClure) Swailes. On Nov. 2, 1946, she married Everett L. Taylor. He preceded her in death in March 2016.

As a teen, Doris worked for the telephone company, Spurgeon's, E.G. Staats and others. While raising four children, she worked at Sheaffer Pen and IRC/TRW in Burlington, starting in 1962 for 20-plus years. When they closed, she worked at Metromail for a short time then at Motorola for 7 ½ years, where she retired in 1993. In her spare time, she loved gardening, sewing, cooking and baking. But her true passion was caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Loved ones left to miss her include her daughter, Norma; son, Richard (Annette); grandchildren, Troy (Lorie) Weigert, Charie (Lance) McMahon, Chad Taylor, Tate Riley, Cherity (Todd) Wibben, Jesiah (Hayley) Riley, Stephanie (David) Chaponnière and Nick (Tara) Taylor; 20 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Gone before her were her parents; her husband; two brothers, Roger and Bill; one sister, Norma Jean; one daughter, Diane Weigert; one son, Mike; a granddaughter, Hope Weigert; a grandson, Clint Taylor; a great-granddaughter, Kaitlin Taylor; and a great-great-granddaughter, Emma McMahon.

Per her wishes, Doris's cremains will be buried at Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant during a family graveside service at a later date.
