Dorothy Gloria Dean Moorer, 71, of Washington, died Tuesday, March 4, 2020, at the Iowa City Rehab and Health Care Center. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 9, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 8, at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Elm Grove cemetery.

Dorothy Moorer was born April 25, 1948, in Ripley, Tenn., the daughter of Johnny and Ora B. Moorer. Dorothy attended public schools in Lauderdale County and was most recently employed at EPC in Kalona. She married Johnny Shaw at a young age and had four children. Dorothy was a loving, caring person who enjoyed yard sales and cooking.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Patricia Shaw of Chicago, Johnny Shaw Jr. of Illinois, and Ernest Shaw of Washington, Iowa; siblings, James (Mary) Moorer of Carmel, Ind., Jacqueline Garner of Rossville, Tenn., Joyce (Larry) Walton of Memphis, Tenn., Shelia (Ray) Maclin of Memphis, Tenn., and Ethel Stizey of Ripley, Tenn.; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her dog, Todo.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Gerge Peete; son, Rickey Shaw; and siblings, Johnny Moorer, Bobby Moorer, Lee Moorer and Vassella Moorer.
