Dorothy M. Halm, 82, of Mount Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, surrounded by her family.

Dorothy was born on October 7, 1939, in Keokuk, Iowa the daughter of Robert Kenneth and Agnes Ellen (O’Bleness) Stowe. Dorothy was united in marriage to Delbert Lee Kemper Jr., on July 14, 1956, they later divorced. She was then united in marriage to Virgil Lee Halm on December 17, 1977, and they later divorced. She graduated from Southeastern Community College with a degree in nursing and worked in the emergency room at St. Joseph Hospital, in Keokuk, Iowa and in Baytown, Texas as well as various care centers in this area. She drove a school bus for 34 years, many of those for the special needs children. She loved to attend Midwest Old Thrashers with her friend Linda. Most of all she loved her family and spending time with them more than anything. Dorothy had strong religious faith and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is survived by her children, John (Mindy) Kemper of Donnellson, Kevin (Valerie) Kemper, Leea (Joe) Brown, Angie (John) Haley, Cheryl (Kevin) Elmore, all of Mt. Pleasant and Ginger Hulke of Sterling, Illinois, She loved her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her sister, Norma (Roland) Robinson of Houston, Texas, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three grandchildren and one sister, Doris Crews.

Friends called on Saturday, August 6, 2022, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, the casket remained closed per Dorothy’s wishes. The family will not be present. Private family services were held and burial was in the Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.
