KALONA ? Dorothy Mae Rodgers, 87, of Muscatine, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, in the Special Community at the Lutheran Homes Society in Muscatine.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 24, at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona with the Rev. Eddie Cabrera officiating. Burial will follow at the Richmond Public Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the Special Community at the Lutheran Homes Society, 2421 Lutheran Drive, Muscatine, IA 52761-9382.
Mrs. Rodgers was born April 3, 1929, in Richmond, the daughter of Van and Dillie (Blakley) Vodicka. She married Dale Rodgers on Feb. 14, 1951, at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa City.
She graduated from Kalona High School. She was employed as a clerk in many clothing stores in Iowa City, and retired from the University of Iowa, where she worked in the dance department. She was a member of the Kalona United Methodist Church and later joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Muscatine, and was a member of the Women of the Moose, Iowa City Lodge. She enjoyed watching WWE, Iowa Hawkeyes basketball, and being around little children.
Surviving are three children, Judy Paul and husband Dave of Muscatine, Jane Boughner and husband Robert of Albany, Oregon, and Barb Fackler and husband Jim of Harrisburg, Kentucky; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; and other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Lloyd, on April 22, 1990.
