KALONA ? Dorothy Stumpf, 84, of Kalona, died Saturday, June 13, 2015, in Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 16, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Richmond with the Rev. David Brownfield officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Trinity Cemetery in Richmond. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m., with prayers at 3 p.m., Monday, June 15, at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. Memorial donations may be directed to Iowa City Hospice or Masses Intentions. Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona is assisting with arrangements.
Mrs. Stumpf was born Sept. 4, 1930, in Riverside, the daughter of Edward and Edna (Roberts) Muller. She married Richard E. Stumpf on Sept. 30, 1952, at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Riverside.
She graduated from St. Mary?s Catholic School in Riverside. She was employed as a nurses aide and at the former Wayside Inn, and at Owens Brush, where she retired; and she was a farm wife. Spending time with the family was an important part of her life. Playing cards and working puzzles were pastimes she greatly enjoyed.
Surviving are six children, Cathy Kelley and husband Randy of Wellman, Peggy Hammes and husband Gerald of Sigourney, Shirley Brown of Wellman, Marilyn Stumpf and John Yoder of Wellman, Harriet Duwa and husband Dwayne of Wellman, and George Stumpf and wife Kristy of Iowa City; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Muller and wife JoAnne of Newton; and two sisters-in-law, Cecilia Muller, and Eugena Stumpf.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard, in November 1999; one son-in-law, Dennis Brown; four brothers, Kenneth Muller, Roy Muller, Jack Muller, and Robert Muller; and one sister, Rosie Rhodes.
