Dorothy Wright Lamm, 89, of Placida, Florida, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on July 13, 2021.

Dorothy was the daughter of Merton and Ruth Wright. She was born July 20, 1931, at the Henry County Memorial Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Dorothy graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School. She continued her education earning her teaching certificate and, in 1972, graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College.

On November 21, 1951, Dorothy married the love of her life, Dean Lamm. Her faith, family and many friends were her passion. Dorothy lived life full and pursued her passions. She started a career in insurance and later became a broker/owner in Real Estate, starting her own business, Cottage Realty. She was one of those instrumental in starting the Mt. Pleasant Christian School. She took great pride in her one-room school house that is now located at Midwest Old Threshers.

One of her favorite pass times was playing golf and on a warm December day in Iowa, she got her "hole-in-one." She had many hobbies including cooking, baking pies and she always had the gift of hospitality. She had a passion for art; her kids and grandkids treasured her homemade Birthday cards.

Dorothy is survived by her three children, DeAnn (Bob) Emmert, Susan (Steve) Gray and Tom Lamm. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Russell; her brothers, Brad Wright and John Wright; sister-in-law, Janet Lamm; and dear friend Tom Ruf; Grandchildren include Spencer Gray, Katie Limyao, Sarah Lauer, Marc Emmert, Abbey House, Haley Lamm and Sox Lamm; and nine great-grandchildren, all lovingly calling her "GG."

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dean; sister, Betty Hall; brothers, Richard Wright and William Wright; and great-granddaughter, Madelyn Limyao.

A memorial service for Dorothy will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at the Oakland Mills Community Church, rural Mt. Pleasant, IA. Pastor Rick Moorman will officiate. Dorothy's family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church on Aug. 14. A light luncheon will be served at the church after the service. Burial will follow at Oakland Mills Cemetery. The Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant, Iowa, is assisting Dorothy's family with her arrangements.
