Doyle Bachman, 73, of rural Wayland, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at his home.

Doyle was born on July 12, 1949, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Earl Arthur and Frieda (Hirschy) Bachman. Doyle was united in marriage to Irene English on July 25, 1970, at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant. Doyle was a man who enjoyed life to the fullest. He enjoyed Demo Derbies, figure eight racing and working on cars. On Thursday nights, he would be playing cards with his friends. In his younger years, he played softball and was on a bowling league. Doyle farmed in the Wayland community for a number of years. Doyle was a former member of the Wayland Lions Club and was a member of the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church.

Doyle is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Irene, of rural Wayland; his three sons, Brandon (Minetta) Bachman of Trenton, Derek (Melissa) Bachman of Kalona and Aaron (Katie) Bachman of Mt. Pleasant; his thirteen grandchildren, Jasmine (Nelson) Craff of Mt. Pleasant, Matthew Reader-Wilson of Cedar Rapids, Chase (Lindsey) Hesseltine of Noble, Jorden Bachman of Kalona, Lydia Hesseltine, Lane Bachman and Levi Bachman all of Trenton, Anthony Hardin, Ryder Bachman, Mikayla Rincon, Madison Rincon, all of Mt. Pleasant, Ethan and Allison Bachman of Kalona; one great-grandchild, Zella Parrott; his brother, Bill Bachman of Mt. Pleasant; and his sister, Kathleen Showalter of Mt. Pleasant. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church rural Wayland, with Pastor Steve English officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Creek Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. on Thursday at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church, rural Wayland where the family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. that evening.
