West Chicago, Ill.
Dr. William J. Dvorak, age 77, a beloved resident of West Chicago, Illinois, went home to be with his Savior, on November 13, 2024. He was born June 19, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois to Irvin and Frances Dvorak. He was the eldest of 3 children, Bill, Bob, and Barb (lovingly known as the 3 B’s!).
Bill graduated from Wheaton Central H.S. in 1965 and William Penn College in 1969 where he met his wife, Lelia. They were married on August 2, 1969. After Bill graduated from Loyola Dental School in 1973, he served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years where their 2 children: Deborah & Andrew were born. In 1977, the young family moved to Wheaton, IL. Bill set up his dental practice in Glen Ellyn under his parents’ store, Village Fabrics. He saw his family practice of over 40 years as his ministry. He always did the best for his patients, counting many of them as friends.
Bill was an active member of Pleasant Hill Community Church for 55 years. He taught Jr. High Sunday School, led small group Bible studies in his home, served on the Elder Board, and was the resident handyman which included everything from remodeling the church kitchen to putting a new roof on the parsonage.
Bill will be especially remembered for always serving others to the best of his ability. That could be anything from having a spiritual discussion to splitting wood.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lelia Kay Lock Dvorak, their daughter, Deborah (Justin) Williams and their children Micah, Reese, and Levi of Greenwood, IN; their son Andrew (Rachel) Dvorak and their children Hannah & Ethan of Magnolia, TX; his sister Barbara (Scott) Russell of St. Cloud, FL.; Bob’s wife Sue and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bob.
A visitation will be held on November 23 from 1 – 2 pm at Woolson Friends church in Richland, IA. This will be followed by a memorial service beginning at 2 pm with Pastors Jerry Hoover and Harlan Van Voorst officiating, followed by interment at Richland Friends Cemetery.
