E. Dorothy Cook, 87, of Libertyville, IA passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa, IA. As were her wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in Dorothy’s honor may be directed to the family and mailed to P.O. Box 83, Libertyville, IA 52567. Eleanora Dorothy Cook, or Dorothy as most knew her, was born on February 12, 1937, in Birmingham, IA to Silas and Veda Mathias Ehret. She was a 1955 graduate of Eldon High School and married the love of her life, Clarence E. Cook, Jr. on April 17, 1955. Together they became the loving parents of five children. Dorothy was a housewife and homemaker while the children were young. As they grew older, she worked at various jobs and spent 20 years working as a CNA at the County Home in Jefferson County until her retirement.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Junior Cook; a daughter, Brenda; a grandson, Robbie McCarty; great-grandson, Jackson McCarty; a sister, Mary Salts; her brothers, Abe, Lester “John”, Raymond, Roscoe, Sam and Roy; and a son-in-law, Rick.

She is survived by her children, Terry (Diana) Cook of Ottumwa, IA, Randy Cook of Libertyville, IA, Dovie Shuffler of Libertyville, IA, and Mickie (Neal) Ford of Fairfield, IA; 18 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, a special friend, Joyce Hostetler, as well as many extended family and friends.
