E. Maxine Kelly

E. Maxine Kelly, age 96, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, January 13, 2017, at the Lutheran Homes Society in Muscatine, Iowa.

Celebration of life services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2017, at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa, with Pastor Ben Blanchard officiating. Maxine was born May 10, 1920, in Washington County, Iowa, the daughter of Roy C. and Mabel Fern (Harrison) Steele. She attended school in Washington, Iowa, and graduated from Washington High School. Maxine was united in marriage to Leighton E. Kelly on February 1, 1939, in Washington, Iowa.

Maxine was a life resident of Washington, Iowa, where she was a homemaker. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Washington.

She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Mullinnix and husband Jerry of Iowa City, Iowa; son, Kent Kelly and wife Sue of Ottumwa, Iowa; son, Brent Kelly and wife Lori of Washington, Iowa; one granddaughter, Amy Bruxvoort and husband Matt of Oskaloosa, IA; one brother, James Steele and wife Kitty of Greeley, Colorado; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Fell of Burlington, Wisconsin; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1997; infant son, Kiven; and one brother, Clifford Steele.
