Earl C. Humphrey

      Earl C. Humphrey, 80, of rural Mt. Pleasant, died at 12:40 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at Independence Regional Health Center in Independence, Mo.

      The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield with Elder Larry Jannings officiating. Burial with full military rites will be in Evergreen Cemetery of Fairfield. Visitation with the family present will be 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, at the Behner Funeral Home.       Mr. Humphrey was born Jan. 7, 1920, near Glasgow in Jefferson County, the son of Burton Litton and Maggie Hudson Humphrey. He married Marine Stark on Dec. 28, 1946 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He lived most of his life near Mt. Pleasant and was a foreman and inspector for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown before his retirement. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was an elder in the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints in Mt. Pleasant.

      Survivors include his wife, a daughter Sharon and James Hannah of Independence, Mo.; a brother, Howard Humphrey of Burlington; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jimmie, Arlo, and Harold Humphrey; and a sister, Hazel Heckenburg.
