Earl E. 'Scotty' Scott
COLUMBUS JUNCTION - Earl E. "Scotty" Scott, 80, of Columbus Junction, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, in the Wapello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Private graveside services will be held at the Columbus City Cemetery. For friends and family there will be a time of food and fellowship at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, in the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church. Local arrangements are being handled by the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. There will be no visitation. A memorial fund has been established.
Mr. Scott was born Dec. 9, 1926, in Columbus City, the son of Mike and Josie (Street) Scott. He married Muriel Kistler on Oct. 21, 1951, in Rock Island, Ill.
He worked for 16 years for the Iowa State DOT on equipment maintenance. He also worked at the Muscatine County Fairgrounds, helping to set up different fair activities. He enjoyed spending many hours umpiring girls' softball games, fishing, gardening, and following NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhart Sr. and Jr. He was also a regular at the local early morning Coffee Hours, always enjoying talking with friends and neighbors.
Surviving are his wife; four daughters, Janice Mace and her special friend Allen Foster of Wapello, Judy McCullough and husband Don of Conesville, Susan Reid and husband Bob of Columbus Junction, and Carol Staley and husband Chuck of Sperry; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Merle in World War II, and James in infancy.
