Edith L. Diers May 5, 1908 - September 3, 2003

      Edith Louise Diers, 95, of Wayland, died at 1 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

      The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Hope Lutheran Church in Germanville, with the Revs. Marvin Mueller and David Franker officiating. Burial will be in the Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Germanville. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5 at the Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield. Memorials have been established to the Hope Lutheran Church, Wayland Responders and the Van Vorhies Haus Activity Fund.

      Survivors include two sons, Robert H. and his wife Mary Kathryn Diers of Wayland, and Everett J. Diers of El Paso, Texas; a daughter, Ruth and her husband Larry Rhoades of Brighton; a sister, Mildred Hill of Washington; two sisters-in-law, Lucille Graf of Lockridge, and Margaret Graf of Albuquerque, N.M.; and nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

      In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Lester, Harlan, Roy and Glenn Graf; a sister, Marie Vorhies and a granddaughter.
