Edith Louise Denney
Edith Louise Denney, 81, of Danville and formerly of New London, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, at Great River Medical Center, West Burlington.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at Elliott Chapel of New London. Visitation will be after noon on Thursday, Jan. 11 at the funeral home, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Jaggar Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
Mrs. Denney was born April 19, 1919, in Louisa County, the daughter of W. A. and Nellie Alexandria Buffington Havenhill. She married Frank Alfred Denney on Dec. 28, 1939 in Wapello who preceded her in death Feb. 7, 1992. A 1937 graduate of Wapello High School, she taught county school before marriage. She was a homemaker and farm wife. She worked at Petzinger?s Store in New London and for Louisa County ASCS. She was a member of Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Safety Rebekah Lodge #409 and Southeast Iowa Roamin? Hawks Camping Club. She enjoyed camping, playing cards, sewing, crocheting and was active in her church.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara N. and Victor Arwood of Madisonville, Tenn., and Deborah D. and Richard Talley of New London; one son, William F. and Joanne Denney of Yarmouth; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister.
