Edith P. Garrels July 24, 1909 - March 29, 2004

Edith P. Garrels, 94, formerly of Packwood, died on Monday, March 29, 2004, at Parkview Home in Wayland.

      The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 2 at the Packwood Christian Church, with the Rev. Jane I. Jordan officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Ottumwa. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, April 2 at the church with family present until the time of the service. Memorials may be made to Parkview Home or the Packwood Christian Church. Fremont Funeral Chapel in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include a son, Dr. Dale E. and his wife Beverly Garrels of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Ella May and her husband Robert Ruppert of Washington; five grandchildren and 11 grandchildren; a sister, Margery Dillon of Hedrick; and a brother, Ralph Zepp of Jackson, Ala.

      In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Dwight, Rex and Merle Zepp; and her sister, Carrie May Utterback.
