Edward 'Bud' C. Schantz

Edward "Bud" C. Schantz, 81, of Eldorado Springs, Mo., formerly of the Wayland area, died Saturday, April 16, 2005, at Monett Health Care Center in Monett, Mo.

      The funeral service was Monday, April 18 at Peterson Funeral Home in Aurora. Burial with full military honors was in Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Mo.

      Mr. Schantz was born Feb. 12, 1924, near Merrimac, southwest of Wayland, the son of Edward R. and Neoma Christner Schantz. He married Gladys Redman on Dec. 5, 1945. He was a carpenter, a farmer and an Army veteran.

      Survivors include his wife; two sons, Edward Schantz of Fayetteville, N.C., and Joel Schantz of Bend, Ore.; three daughters, Connie Shoemaker of Aurora, Mo., Neoma Kreuter of Upland, Calif., and Debbie Sinkula of Green Bay, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; and three sisters, Francis Custer and Fannie VanSant, both of Wayland, and Esther Seagren of Dixon, Ill.

      He was preceded in death by his parents.
