Edward Paul Hahn, age 82, of Keota, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by family members on Friday, September 20, 2024, after a battle with cancer.
Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Don Patterson officiating. Calling hours will begin 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the West Chester Community Church. Ed was born October 22, 1941, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Ivan and Ada (Beenblossom) Hahn. He graduated from West Chester High School. Ed was united in marriage to Sharon Sheetz on November 19, 1958, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Ed and Sharon celebrated 65 years of marriage last year.
Ed farmed all of his life and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed many things in life, like his welding projects, mowing, and he had a true passion for music. Ed was particularly gifted at playing the piano and played with his dad in the Ivan Hahn Band for years in southeast Iowa. In his later years, Ed loved to play at family gatherings during the holidays.
Ed was happiest when the house was full of family and friends as he valued this above all else. Ed was always there for anyone in need of help, advice or just needing a laugh.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Hahn of Keota, Iowa; son, Mark Hahn of Texas; son, Lonnie Hahn and wife Tabitha of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Paula Celania and husband Joe of Texas; grandchildren: Riley Hahn. AJ Celania, Joe Celania, Kirsten Hahn and Kendahl Hahn; as well as his sister, Peg Shepherd of Washington, Iowa. They will always cherish his memories.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents.
