Edwin R. Miller

KALONA ? Edwin Ray Miller, 88, of Kalona, died Sunday, Dec.6, 2015, of heart failure.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 9, at the Norman Jay Miller residence, 2066 520th Street, SW, Kalona, with Bishop Ivan Borntrager officiating. Burial will follow in the North Gingerich Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 8, at the Norman Jay Miller residence. Visitation was also held Monday, Dec. 7. Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona is handling arrangements.

Mr. Miller was born June 29, 1927, in Kalona, the son of Chriss B. and Barbara (Brenneman) Miller. He married Ada Miller on Feb. 1, 1950.

He was baptized in the Old Order Amish Church and remained a faithful member until his death. He and his wife lived and farmed in the Kalona area. He was ordained Deacon on Oct. 20, 1991.

Surviving are four sons and two daughters, Marvin Miller and wife Freda of Kalona, Sanford Miller and wife Malinda of Kalona, Marlene Swarey and husband Ernest of Guthrie, Kentucky, Glen Miller and wife Marilyn of Reed City, Michigan, Norman Miller and wife Loretta of Kalona, and Inez Yoder and husband Isaac of Riverside; 48 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Leona Peachy, and Mary Miller and husband Freeman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, on July 29, 2011; one daughter-in-law, Sylvia Miller; two brothers, Henry, and Monroe; one sister, Elsie; one brother-in-law, Jess Peachy; and one sister-in-law, Fannie Miller and husband Henry.
