Effie E. Anderson Bergdahl
Effie E. Anderson Bergdahl, 96, of Mt. Pleasant, died at 4:50 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at New London Care Center.
The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the Chapel of Forest Home Cemetery. Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, at Weir Funeral Home. There will be no family visitation at the funeral home; family visitation will be 10 to 10:30 a.m. at the cemetery chapel. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the activity fund at New London Care Center.
Mrs. Bergdahl was born Jan. 21, 1904, in New London Township, the daughter of Asa and Mary E. Willey Anderson. She married Lernart ?Sorgum? Bergdahl on Nov. 28, 1942, at Kahoka, Mo.
A 1922 graduate of Fort Madison High School and 1924 graduate of Fort Madison Business College, she assisted Dr. Lessinger of New London in his office as a bookkeeper and secretary for 50 years. She was of the Protestant faith, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of various bridge clubs.
Survivors include 15 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; four sisters, Gladys Calloway, Cecyle Hartquist, Erma Chrissinger and Hazel Anderson; and four brothers, Earl, Donald, John and Loren Anderson.
