Elanore was born on May 23, 1929, the daughter of Harold and Edith (Schantz) Snider in Wellman, Iowa. She attended a country grade school in Wellman, Iowa, before attending high school in Kalona, Iowa. She married Victor L. Davisson in 1961. He passed away in 1967.
Elanore was a hardworking and caring woman whose greatest joy was her family. Throughout her life, she held many different jobs, including working on the assembly line for both a calendar manufacturer and an electronics manufacturer. She also worked as a waitress, in a bakery, and provided in-home healthcare.
In her younger years, one of Elanore’s favorite things was having her granddaughters spend weekends with her. She loved taking them to the zoo and to feed the ducks along Ben Butterworth Parkway. Elanore taught them how to sew and embroider, paint with oils, and always had "home baked" bread ready for their visits. No matter who came through her door, Elanore was ready to offer a meal, a snack, or send you home with food—an act of kindness that truly reflected her generous heart. Outside of work and family, Elanore also enjoyed reading, gardening and quilting. She hand-stitched countless quilts over the years, gifting them to family and friends. She had a love for making things, whether it was with fabric, paint or flowers.
Elanore will be lovingly remembered by three children, Ronald (Bonnie Meersman) Davisson, Nancy Castro and Randy McDowell; two granddaughters, Chrystal (Tony) Garcia and Amanda (Jack) Trent; and nine great-grandchildren.
Elanore was preceded in death by her husband, Victor; two sons, Jim and Duane McDowell; two grandsons, Michael and Brian Castro; and a sister, Aletha Snider.
