Eldon Harris
Eldon "Leon" Harris, 72, of Danville, died Sunday, Feb. 17, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at the chapel, with the Rev. Rick Latta officiating. Burial will be at Long Creek Cemetery in rural Danville.
He was born Feb. 4, 1936, in Henry County, the son of Wayman and Mary Cecil Harris. On June 8, 1974, he married Joan Plummer in Nashua.
He attended Linwood Country School and New London Schools, graduating in Mt. Pleasant. He worked at MHI in Mt. Pleasant and at IAAP as a production worker, and also farmed. He was of the Christian faith.
He is survived by his widow; two sons, Kenny Plummer and his wife Vicki and Jeremy Harris, all of Burlington; two daughters, Barbara Fay Dinger and her husband Joe of Rockaway Beach, Mo. and Melanie Davis and her husband Steve of Danville; one brother, Lloyd Harris and his wife Oneta of Mt. Union; two sisters, Wanda Smith of West Point and Mary Lou Oliver of Burlington; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
His parents preceded him in death.
