Eleanor Georgiana Chleboun Bowers

Eleanor Georgiana Chleboun Bowers, of Grinnell, died July 11, 2000, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 16, at Herrick Chapel of Grinnell College. The body will be cremated. There will be no public visitation. Memorials may be made to the Eleanor Bowers Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Mrs. Bowers was born June 28, 1921, in Cicero, Ill., the daughter of Lad and Rose Chleboun. She married Edd William Bowers on January 21, 1944. She taught for 44 years in a number of towns including Stuart; Lexington, Ill.; Mt. Pleasant; and Grinnell. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Edd William Bowers, Jr., of Grinnell; two daughters, Debbie Johnson of Trophy Club, Texas, and Cindy Fulton of Chestertown, Mo.; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
