Ella Mae Ortery May 17, 1933 - October 20, 2003

      Ella Mae Ortery, 70, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Monmouth, Ill., died at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, in Mt. Pleasant.

      The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, with the Rev. Gerald Marlow officiating. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery in Kirkwood, Ill. Visitation will be today and Thursday at the funeral home with family present from 7 to 8 p.m. today. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society Henry County Chapter. Memorials and cards may be left at Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant until 6 p.m today and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday.

      Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Wanda and her husband Marvin Day of Mt. Pleasant; a son, Edwin E. and his wife Amy Ortery of Rio, Ill.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lois Tatman, Doris Montgomery and Margaret Ann Brinton, all of Monmouth; and a brother, William Mettler of Dawson, Ill.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, a stillborn son, three brothers and two sisters.
