Elna Joyce Greenfield was born on December 10, 1932, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of the late Clem and Ina Dille Hootman. She was a proud graduate of Birmingham High School and spent her life dedicated to her family, her faith, and her community. Elna was a hardworking farm wife who stood side by side with her late husband, Joe Greenfield, in all aspects of their life together. Whether driving grain trucks or tractors, Elna was always there to lend a helping hand. Her strong work ethic and dedication to her family were evident in everything she did.
Elna was a woman of deep faith, and her commitment to her community was demonstrated through her involvement in the construction of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was a great baker, known for her delicious cinnamon rolls, pioneer bread and homemade noodles. Elna's love for her family extended to her adoration of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride.
An avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, Elna was especially passionate about women's basketball. She loved life and had a great sense of humor, often making jokes and bringing laughter to those around her. Elna's loving, funny and kind nature will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Elna was preceded in death by her parents, Clem and Ina Hootman; her husband, Joe Greenfield; her siblings, Ray, Shirrel, Eva, Dean, Don, Keith, Rex, Harold, Liz, and an infant brother, Verlee.
She is survived by her sons, Wes (Jackie) Greenfield and Dennis (Joanie) Greenfield; her sister, Eileen Losey; her six grandchildren, Kassidy (Stefan) Sheffield, Marissa (Dillon) Linn, Landon (Jackie) Greenfield, Daniel (Cara) Greenfield, Paul (Cattleya) Greenfield and Desiree Greenfield; and her seven great-grandchildren.
