BRIGHTON ? Erma Lucille Hoefer, 95, of rural Brighton, died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016, in Parkview Home in Wayland.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 29, at Union Free Cemetery near her home, with the Rev. Ryan Dexter officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials for the Brighton Volunteer First Responders may be left at the cemetery or mailed to Dennis Hoefer at 2598 Chimney Springs Drive, Marietta, GA 30062. Gould Funeral Home in Brighton is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hoefer was born Aug. 5, 1921, in rural Jefferson County near Lockridge, the daughter of Ross and Jessie (Schadt) Shuppy. She married Carl Hoefer on Oct. 8, 1948, in Kahoka, Missouri.
She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1937. She was a rural grade school teacher for six years, and later worked for McCleery Cumming Company in Washington for 13 seasons. She and her husband lived their lives on the Hoefer Heritage Farm near Germanville, where she enjoyed gardening, sewing, her flowers, feeding the birds and caring for her pets.
Surviving are four nephews, and one niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on Sept. 16, 2013; and one younger sister.
