Ernest 'Ernie' R. Swailes

      RIVERSIDE - Ernest "Ernie" R. Swailes, 87, of Riverside, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, in Mercy Hospital in Iowa City due to complications of West Nile Virus.

      Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside with the Rev. Rich Adam officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery with military rites by the combined units of the Riverside VFW Post 6414 and Lone Tree American Legion Post No. 457. Following the committal service, a time of food and fellowship will be held in the Parish Life Center at the church. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. today in the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Riverside, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m. A memorial fund has been established.

      Mr. Swailes was born Aug. 4, 1920, in rural Ainsworth, the son of James E. and Helen A. (Dvorak) Swailes. He married Norma H. Kasper on July 29, 1950, in Richmond.
