Ernest H. Denning
Ernest H. Denning, 89, of Ft. Madison, formerly of West Point, died Saturday, March 29, at Ft. Madison Health Center.
Visitation began at 1 p.m. today at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home and Crematory in West Point, with a Christian wake service at 3 p.m., family present from 6 to 8 p.m., and a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point, with the Rev. Apo Mpanda as celebrant. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in West Point.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or to Parkinson's research.
He was born April 21, 1918 in St. Paul, the son of Bernard and Cecelia Lampe Denning. On Feb. 18, 1941, he married Hilda Rauenbuehler in West Point.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point, the West Point Knights of Columbus Council 2286 and the Holy Name Society.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Gary Denning and his wife Rita of Lenexa, Kan., Marvin Denning and his wife Sally of Ft. Madison, and Mike Denning and his wife Katie of Gainesville, Ga.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
His parents and brother Henry preceded him in death.
