Ethel Pauline Prottsman

      Ethel Pauline Prottsman, 75, of New London, died at 2:59 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, 2000 at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

      The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at Elliott Chapel of New London with the Rev. Matt Miller officiating. Visitation will be after noon on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at Elliott Chapel, with the family present from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery in New London. A memorial has been established.

      Mrs. Prottsman was born Oct. 6, 1925, in Lee County, the daughter of Ralph and Emogene Johnson Heaton. She married Dale Vern Prottsman on Aug. 5, 1946, in New London. A 1943 graduate of Donnellson High School and 1947 graduate of Western Illinois University, she was a junior high school teacher in the New London Community Schools for 20 years, retiring in 1988. She was a member of the New London United Methodist Church and enjoyed crocheting, reading and traveling.

      Survivors include two sons, Jerry Prottsman of New London and Jon Prottsman of Victor; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Joe, daughter Peggy, and a brother, Mark Heaton.
