Eugene C. House

Eugene Charles House, 85, of Verona, Wis., died Friday, April 4, at Four Winds Manor in Verona.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today, April 7, at Joyce-Ryan Funeral Home in Verona, and from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Tuesday, April 8, at Memorial Baptist Church in Verona. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Craig Jarvis officiating. Burial will follow at Verona Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711, and for Memorial Baptist Church.

He was born May 3, 1922 in Morning Sun, the son of Charles and Zelma Harrison House.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On June 22, 1949, he married Viola Mitts in Nashua.

He was a member of the Carpenter's Union Local 314, the American Legion and the Memorial Baptist Church in Verona. He was active in many community services, RSVP, Meals on Wheels and the Verona Senior Center, where he served as a board member.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, James House and his wife Sandra of Crystal Lake, Ill. and William House of Cross Plains, Wis.; a sister, Adra Coghlan of Mt. Pleasant; a sister-in-law, Dorothy House; a brother-in-law, Vic Lauer; and two grandchildren.

His parents, daughter Cheryl, sister Alma Lauer and brother Ben House preceded him in death.
