Eugene ?Gene? Stanley Quick

      Eugene ?Gene? Stanley Quick, 75, of Burlington, died at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at the Genesis East Medical Center of Davenport.

      The funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22, at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, with the Rev. Donald Hoornstra officiating. Visitation began at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Lunning Chapel with the family present from 1 to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Messiah Lutheran Church.

      Mr. Quick was born May 11, 1925, at Four Corners, the son of William and Edna Nelson Quick. He married Margie Cleland on Feb. 15, 1953, at Swedesburg. A 1943 graduate of Olds High School, he was a tolltaker on the McArthur Bridge for 18 years, retiring in 1993. He also worked as a delivery man for Kamp?s Laundry and Dry Cleaning from 1960 to 1975. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church.

      Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Debra and Bill Carpenter of Burlington and Kathy and Stacy Lee of Shelbyville, Ind.; a son, Stephen Quick, of Huxley; two sisters, Helen Gustafson of Moline, Ill., and Dorothy Johnson of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren; and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and a nephew.
