Eunice C. Nelson

Eunice C. Nelson, 77, of Atrium Village in Hills died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 18, at the First Presbyterian Church in Fairfield with the Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield. Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 17 at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield, where the family will be present from 7 to 8 p.m. that evening. Memorials may be given to the Fairfield Park and Recreation Partners for Play for the playground project at the O.B. Nelson Park.

Mrs. Nelson was born Sept. 29, 1922, near Mt. Union, the daughter of Henry and Goldie Bauhard Fricke. She married Oscar Bernard "O.B." Nelson on Nov. 28, 1945 in Mt. Union. She graduated from Mt. Union High School and Parsons College. She taught school prior to marriage and spent most of her life as a homemaker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fairfield and the P.E.O.

Survivors include four daughters, Marilyn Bergess of Mt. Pleasant, Sarah Fuerstenau of Racine, Wis., Kathryn DeJong of Knoxville, and Cynthia Nelson of Boston, Mass.; two sons, Richard Nelson of Iowa City, and Robert Nelson of San Francisco, Calif.; one sister, Louise Bransby of Atlanta, Ga.; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.
