Eunice Parkhurst
Eunice Parkhurst, 87, formerly of Morning Sun and Winfield, died on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at the Wapello Nursing and Rehab Center.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 6 at the Stoklasa Memorial Chapel in Cainsville, Mo. Burial will be in Zoar Cemetery in Cainsville. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5 at the chapel. A memorial has been established for the Morning Sun Public Library.
Mrs. Parkhurst was born on Feb. 16, 1915, in Brush, Colo., the daughter of George and Nellie Moren Kirkpatrick. She married James E. "Buster" Parkhurst on Feb. 10, 1934, in Davis City, who preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 2002. She was a homemaker with varied interests throughout her life. She raised dogs, raised and sold strawberries, bought and sold antiques, quilted and was an avid reader.
Survivors include three daughters, Donna Hendrickson of Princeton, Mo., Dianna Kammerer of Morning Sun, and Susan Welty of Abingdon, Ill.; a son, James L. "Pete" Parkhurst of Cainsville, Mo.; a sister, Virginia LaFollette of Michigan City, Ind.; two brothers, Kenneth Kirkpatrick of California, and William Kirkpatrick of Austin, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three sons, a daughter-in-law, a grandson and two brothers.
