Evelean S. Smith March 23, 1915 - May 16, 2005

Evelean Stewart Smith, 90, of Salem, died at 6:40 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2005, at the home of her daughter in Burlington.

      The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 20 at the Salem Congregational Church in Salem, with Pastors Harold Dorsey and Kirk Bennett officiating. Burial will be in the Salem East Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 19 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials have been established to the Salem Congregational Church, RSVP and Great River Hospice.

Survivors include eight sons, Sterling D. and his wife Linda Stewart of Boise, Idaho, Jerry and his wife Ardith Stewart of Santa Maria, Calif., Jim and his wife Mary Ann Stewart of Rock Island, Ill., Willie and his wife Mary Lou Stewart of Salem, Bob and his wife Linda Stewart of Pismo Beach, Calif., Rick and his wife Holly Stewart of Coal Valley, Ill., Don Stewart of Denmark, Gene and his wife Pam Stewart of Mt. Pleasant; four daughters, Maxine and her husband Larry Freeman of Bettendorf, Wanda and her husband Neil Watts of Burlington, Sandi and her husband Ron Benge of Mt. Pleasant, and Brenda and her husband Jeff Baker of Las Vegas, Nev.; 28 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
