Evelyn B. Turpin February 28, 1916 - November 5, 2003

      Evelyn Bessie Turpin, 87, of Mt. Pleasant, died on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.

      A graveside memorial service is planned for a later date this month in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown. The body will be cremated. Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. A memorial has been established to the Mt. Pleasant Public Library for the purchase of large-print books and may be left at the chapel or mailed to the family home of her daughter, Mary White at 1151 Linden Plaza, Mt. Pleasant.

      Survivors include a daughter, Mary and her husband Denny White of Mt. Pleasant; three grandsons and six great-grandchildren.

      In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Kenneth Dohrn; and four sisters, Alice Safken, Henrietta Feldaverd and two sisters in infancy.
