Evelyn Haifley

Evelyn F. Haifley, 96, of Washington, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, in the McCreedy Home in Washington.

Funeral services have been set for 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington with the Rev. Maureen Howard officiating. Burial will follow in the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m., Tuesday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A memorial to Immanuel Lutheran Church has been established.

Mrs. Haifley was born July 8, 1919, in Columbus Junction, the daughter of Fred Eugene and Mavia (Hamilton) Byers. She married Harold Haifley on Dec. 4, 1946, in Davenport.

She attended school in Washington. She was a faithful member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and a 55-year member of the women?s VFW Auxiliary. She was employed at Curran, Northrup King, and for 20 years at McCleery-Cumming Co.

Surviving are two sons, Dale Haifley and friend Priscilla Reighard, and Duane Haifley and wife Teresa, all of Washington; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold, on June 29, 2002; and one half sister, Henrietta Booth.
