Evelyn M. Benz August 19, 1925 - July 9, 2005

Evelyn Mae Benz, 79, of Burlington, died at 9:48 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2005, at the Burlington Care Center in Burlington.

      The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 14 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, with Brother Tom Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 13 at Prugh's Chapel in Burlington, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial has been established to Great River Hospice.

      Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Heckenberg of Burlington; six sons, Terry, Roger, Kevin and Darren Benz of Burlington, Charles Benz of West Burlington, and Randy Benz of Mt. Pleasant; 27 grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren; and four brothers, Jack Keener of Burlington, Joe Keener of Cocoa, Fla., Charles Keener of Frederick, Colo., and Rex Keener of Titusville, Fla.

      In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, a sister, a daughter, a son and two grandchildren.
