Evelyn M. Glanzman
Evelyn M. Glanzman, 86, of Mt. Pleasant, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
The funeral service was 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 13, at the First Presbyterian Church of Mt. Pleasant with Dr. Douglas Hall officiating. Visitation began after noon on Sunday, Nov. 12, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. Burial was in Forest Home Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the First Presbyterian Church, Midwest Old Threshers, and the Rec Center.
Mrs. Glanzman was born May 26, 1914, in Sperry, the daughter of Henry and Alvina Brandenburg Taeger. She married Francis A. Glanzman in Galesburg, Ill., on Jan. 23, 1934. She attended school in rural Des Moines County and moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1935 where she lived for the remainder of her adult life. She worked as a baker in the Mt. Pleasant High School Cafeteria and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Women?s Association. She was a member of the West Side Mother?s Club, Business and Professional Women?s Club and the Henry County Health Center Auxiliary. She was a member of the Pinochle Club for over 50 years and a member of the Women of the Moose, serving at one time as Senior Regent.
Survivors include two daughters, Marlene Glanzman and Jean A. and Dean Church, both of Mt. Pleasant; a sister, Velma and Paul Swanson of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother Mark Taeger.
