COLUMBUS JUNCTION ? Everett Willis Grim, 86, of Nichols, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, in Pioneer Park in Lone Tree.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 26, at the Nichols Christian Church. Burial will be in Nichols Cemetery with military rites by the Allen Wright Hanft American Legion Post 100. Following the burial, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the church. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time, Saturday at the church. A general memorial fund has been established. The Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Grim was born June 28, 1930, in Nichols, the son of Edward Lee and Edith M. (Newcomb) Grim. He married Edna Joan Sands on Nov. 18, 1956, in Davenport.
He graduated from Nichols High School and was a proud veteran of the Army, serving his country during the Korean conflict from 1951-53. He had worked as a serviceman for Walnut Grove Products Co. from 1956-91 and also farmed the family farm. He was a member of the Nichols Christian Church, serving as a deacon and elder for the church. He served on the Nichols Volunteer Fire Department for several years, and enjoyed woodworking, golfing, playing cards and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Joan, of Nichols; three children, Linda Koser of Memphis, Missouri, Rebecca Bayers and husband Dennis of Hermitage, Missouri, and Russell Grim and wife Sharyl of Nichols; one daughter-in-law, Kathy Clevenger of Fruitland; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Twyla Burch and husband Victor of Muscatine; and one brother, Franklin Grim of Muscatine.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Duane Clevenger; one son-in-law, Roy Koser; and two sisters, Irene Elliott, and Delores Grim.
