Everett Hauenstein
Everett Hauenstein, 86, of Wayland, died Thursday, July 9, 2015, in the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 14, at Fern Cliff Evangelical Free Church in rural Wayland with the Rev. Bob Spilger officiating. Burial will be in the Eicher Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m., Monday, July 13, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. The family has established memorials for the Fern Cliff Evangelical Free Church or the WACO Youth Athletic Association.
Mr. Hauenstein was born Jan. 23, 1929, in Wayland, the son of Willard and Ethel (Speidel) Hauenstein. He married Velda Sinn on March 11, 1950. They raised five children and lived in the Olds and Wayland area for over 35 years. She preceded him in death in 1987. He married Doris (Nebel) Sinn on March 6, 1989. Together they shared 10 children, 27 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.
Most of his working years were spent at Good Year in Mount Pleasant until he retired in 1991. One of his passions was attending his grandchildren?s and great-grandchildren?s sporting events. He liked traveling, camping, fishing and hunting. He enjoyed riding his scooter and doing wood crafting. He attended Fern Cliff Evangelical Free Church.
Surviving are his wife, Doris Sinn-Hauenstein of Wayland; five children, Peg Clark and husband Dave of Fairfield, Robert Hauenstein and wife Deanna of Mediapolis, Mary Floyd and husband Donnie of Vinemont, Ala., Linda Roth of Wayland, and Patty Escher and husband Larry of Winfield; five stepchildren, Cindy Carroll of Wayland, Bryan Sinn of Wayland, Bruce Sinn and wife Vicki of Lochbuie, Colo., Chris Alvine and husband Dwain of Wayland, and Bobbi Stauffer and husband Marvin of Wayland; and two sisters, Donna Rebling and husband Paul of Wayland, and Joyce Kisner of Granbury, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ruby; his first wife, Velda; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; and one son-in-law, Milan Roth.
