Fairfield residents injured in accident
Three Fairfield residents, Richard L. Blakeney, Sholn Marie and Khyle Kelly, were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Highway 218 and G-36 intersection in Washington County.
According to an Iowa State Patrol minimal report, a 1999 International truck owned by Maher Brothers Transfer of Iowa City and driven by 44-year-old Jon F. Clemmer of Wayland was stopped at a stop sign on G-36 facing east, and the 2003 Kia Optima driven by 28-year-old Blakeney was southbound on Highway 218. Marie, age 31, and Kelly, age 9, were passengers in Blakeney's vehicle.
The state patrol's report states Clemmer's truck pulled out in front of Blakeney's car, and the car hit the truck in the back on the driver's side. The vehicles came to rest in the middle of Highway 218's southbound lanes.
Blakeney and Kelly were transferred by Washington County Ambulance to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, while Marie was transported by helicopter to University Hospitals.
According to a University Hospital spokeswoman this morning, both Blakeney and Kelly were treated and released, No information was available for Marie.
