FLORENCE L. OLOMON
Florence L. Olomon, 73, of New London, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Florence was born on May 13, 1947, at Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Maude (Smalley) Carman. She graduated from Fort Madison High School. Florence was united in marriage to Donald L. Olomon on Sept. 21, 1968, in Burlington, Iowa.
She was a mother, wife, sister, grandmother and everyone's friend! She ALWAYS had a smile on her face. She loved country music and line dancing. She loved working at Old Threshers every year. She also had worked at Mt. Pleasant City Hall for 47 years and planned to wait a couple more years to retire. After retiring, her plans were to travel and spend time with loved ones. She was such a dedicated and hard worker who loved what she did and loved the people she worked with. Florence was the Heart of the City of Mt. Pleasant.
Family was most important to Florence. But the thing is, she was loved by so many! She had her work family, Old Threshers family, country music family and many friends. Florence's husband, Don, of New London; her two daughters, Ashley Olomon of Hills and Sarah Moss; her son-in-law, Skyler; and her precious grandchildren, Brady, Sloan and Jagger, all of Iowa City. They were her ENTIRE WORLD!!! They weren't just family, they were best friends. Florence also is survived by her sister, Nancy Teel, and her brother, Carl Carman, both of Burlington; along with several nieces and nephews and her loving dog, Gemma.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents; one half-sister, Irene Witte; and two half-brothers, Marvin Tebbs and Arthur Tebbs.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant, with Pastor Danny Buck officiating. The family will be present from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Murphy Funeral Home. A memorial has been established in her memory. Those attending the services are required to wear a mask.
The Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant is caring for her arrangements.
